Company: The Palm Men's
Location: Palm Springs, California
Statistically speaking, men fall prey to addiction much more frequently than women do. For example, in the 2008 U.S. National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 11.5 percent of males 12 and older had an addiction or abuse issue, compared to only 6.4 percent of females within the same age range. Men who do develop addictions may find it difficult to heal in a culture that rewards male risk-taking. Professional men may find healing particularly difficult, as their social engagements may revolve around the use and abuse of addictive substances like alcohol. The Palm, a premier men’s facility located in Pam Springs, is designed to help.
The Palm is a sober living community for men who have completed their addiction treatment programs but aren’t quite ready to move home yet. At The Palm, residents will be provided with a safe and sober place to heal, but the luxurious surroundings may also help men to see the rewards inherent in a life free of addiction. Upscale amenities include:
Residents can also consult with counselors regarding meal planning, fitness regimens, life skills courses and more. The Palm even consults with local professionals who provide hypnosis, for those clients who want a little extra help in order to banish drug- or alcohol-related triggers.
The Palm puts a high premium on sobriety, so clients are absolutely required to abstain from all alcohol and drugs, and they may even be required to submit to urine screenings. Clients are also expected to adhere to their follow-up care programs, participating in counseling and support group meetings as needed.
